We Found The Best Cleanser for Your FOREO Facial Brush

We searched long and hard to find THE ONE cleanser to rule them all, and its name is Tatcha!

The choice of a cleanser you use with your LUNA is deeply personal. But if you’re confused by the hundreds of products on the market, we’ve done in-depth research and found a wonder-gel that agreed with all of our (very different) skin types.

The first thing that you need to know: if you have a favorite cleanser that you know and love – keep on using it!  LUNA family is here to improve your beauty routines, not change them.

But if you’re in the “I’ve no idea what to choose” camp, this story is for you!

When searching for the perfect cleanser there are a few things you need to be aware of. Your skin type and allergies play a significant role in deciding which ingredients are best for your skin.

Furthermore, there are cleansers that will maximize the effects of cleansing with your LUNA but try to avoid the ones that might damage the soft silicone of your brush. Read on!

Cleanser No-Nos

Glycolic acid will cause the silicone on your LUNA to deteriorate over time, so it’s not recommended to use it as a cleanser.

Other cleansers to avoid are clay-based, silicone-based or grainy cleansers, exfoliators or scrubs, as they may damage the LUNA’s soft silicone touchpoints, not to mention damage marine life!

However, if you wish to get the dermatological benefits of glycolic acid-containing products while protecting your LUNA and ensuring its long-term durability, our Swedish skincare experts recommend applying a facial mask 1-2 times a week after completing your FOREO cleansing routine.

Our Favorite: Tatcha The Deep Cleanse Gel

Tatcha The Deep Cleanse Gel Cleanser

After getting rave reviews from friends about Tatcha, MYSA team decided to see what the fuss is all about. After first clearing that The Deep Cleanse Gel contains none of the no-no ingredients, we were delighted to find it’s also free of parabens, synthetic fragrances, sulfates, and phthalates.

“The Deep Cleanse oil-free gel lathers into a creamy foam to lift away dirt, oil and impurities without over-drying. It cleanses with amino acids derived from silk gentle enough for even the most delicate skin, leaving skin soft, refreshed and comfortably hydrated. The formula harnesses the power of the Japanese Luffa fruit, a natural beauty multi-tasker beloved by Japanese women for centuries. Ground fibers from the fruit exfoliate, helping to turn over dead skin cells, deeply purifying & decongesting pores, while the fruit extract beautifies and conditions skin. Japanese Wild Rose works to visibly tighten pores and smooth skin texture, while Japanese Leopard Lily helps minimize excess oil.”

The Deep Cleanse is formulated for normal to oily skin, but all skin types can use it on a daily basis (up to 2x/day). It has a neutral pH level of 6.98 (according to Tatcha’s website), so it’s won’t irritate or dry out your skin.

The gel creates a very luxurious foam in contact with water which is why it feels like you’re being treated to a spa-type facial. The entire team reported the feeling of a very “deep” cleanse while the skin felt baby-soft and glowing. The regular use of LUNA 2 enhanced the feeling even further which is why it got both thumbs up!

Cleanser + LUNA 101

Now that we found the one, it’s worth repeating how to best amplify your cleanser – LUNA experience. The quantity of cleanser to use is really a personal choice, but we suggest to use one pump for each face zone, meaning 3 or 4 pumps overall. If you feel your skin needs deeper cleansing, or if you enjoy having a richer sensation, you may want to use more.

Make sure your LUNA is properly wet, because this helps LUNA work its magic.

A quick reminder how to better use a cleanser:

1: Apply the cleanser with fingertips onto dry face. This procedure offers much better results than applying the cleanser on the LUNA, as some people are instinctively doing.

2: Wet your LUNA device, activate it and follow FOREO’s cleansing routine for 1 minute, twice a day.

Could I please ask why I cannot use an oil- based cleanser with a silicone brush? I am trying to understand why this is, thank you very much. Warm regards.

    • FOREO says:

Dear Adeola, please note that we strongly recommend not using any oil-based cleansers with FOREO devices as it can cause damage to the silicon.
