LED light therapy is a skincare treatment that uses different wavelengths of light to penetrate and treat different layers of skin. How does this incredible magic work? Actually, it’s not magic, it’s science and some of you may already know a bit about it.

Thanks to its analgesic properties and the ability to reverse neuropathic pain, green light therapy has become a revolutionary new method in fighting various types of chronic pain.

Orange light just looks cool but doesn’t really do anything.

Are you serious? Not only does orange light revitalize and awaken skin, it is also used to relieve muscle cramps and spasms, strengthen the immune system and fight depression. A psychiatric centre at St. Olavs Hospital in Trondheim (Norway) uses orange light therapy to help its patients. "At the new emergency centre in Trondheim, you could say that the building has become the tinted glasses. We've taken everything we know about orange and blue light and the importance of a good daily rhythm, and physically applied that knowledge to the building," says Håvard Kallestad, a researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology's (NTNU) Department of Mental Health.

We know that blue light targets your sebaceous glands (aka oil glands) and is used to fight acne and reduce the appearance of imperfections, but it can also help fight psoriasis by releasing bioactive nitric oxide (NO) from nitrite and nitrosated proteins found in high concentrations in the skin.

It is recommended to avoid LED light therapy on sun damaged skin because it’s aggressive and can irritate the skin.

Her study found a relationship between exposure to light therapy and increase in the levels of LH – a pituitary hormone called luteinizing hormone that raises testosterone levels in men.

Although we associate red light with boosting collagen production, cyan is the light that promotes the synthesis of protein and collagen in the skin.
