Face Yoga: How to Reduce Wrinkles and Fine Lines Around Eyes and Lips
With 2.7 billion views on TikTok, #faceyoga has been one of the hottest beauty topics in the last few years. Facial exercises have been popping up in our feeds, celebrities such as Madonna have been promoting them, and here on MYSA, our face yoga post has been the most visited one in 2023.
While many cosmetic treatments, such as Botox, fillers, and lasers, are available to smooth and plump the skin, they can be expensive, invasive, and risky. Fortunately, there are safer, non-invasive, effective ways to tone your face and reduce the look of wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes and lips: a face workout is one of them.
Face yoga exercises speed up blood circulation, release tension points, stimulate collagen and elastin production, reduce wrinkles, and tone the muscles on your face. Those exercises include activating the facial muscles and using your hands to help - today, we're bringing five exercises that are easy to do and only take a few minutes a day. You can exercise in the morning, which will help remove puffiness and make your face more energized and radiant, or as a part of your bedtime routine, which will improve circulation and help skincare products penetrate deeper into the skin.
5 Effective Exercises for Eyes and Lips
When done regularly, these facial exercises can improve your facial posture and help you achieve a younger-looking, plumper appearance. Before you start, cleanse your face, apply a moisturizer to hydrate your skin, and prepare it for facial stretching and toning exercises. You can also use a mirror to check your form and avoid overstretching or straining your muscles.
The Eye Stretch
This exercise helps to stretch and relax your eye muscles and reduce eye strain. It also improves blood flow and oxygen to your eyes, making them look brighter and more alert.
- Sit or stand comfortably with your head straight.
- Look up as far as you can without moving your head.
- Hold this position for a few seconds, then look down as far as possible.
- Hold this position for a few seconds, then look to the right as far as possible.
- Hold this position for a few seconds, then look to the left as far as possible.
- Repeat this cycle ten times.
- Do this exercise daily for 5 minutes.
The Happy Hands
This exercise revitalizes your lips and prevents the skin around your mouth from sagging. It also stimulates collagen around your mouth’s skin, tightening the muscles.
- Position your hands on the corners of your mouth.
- The forefingers should point upwards.
- Lift the edges of your lips firmly with your fingers.
- It should look like you’re making your fingers force your lips to smile.
- Hold the pose for a few seconds, then relax.
- Repeat this five times.
- Do this exercise daily for 5 minutes.
The Lip Plumper
This exercise helps plump your lips and make them look fuller and more defined. It also strengthens your lip muscles and prevents them from thinning and flattening.
- Close your mouth and press your lips together tightly.
- Blow air into your mouth, creating a balloon shape with your cheeks.
- Hold this for a few seconds, then move the air to your right cheek.
- Hold this for a few seconds, then move the air to your left cheek.
- Hold this for a few seconds, then release the air slowly.
- Repeat this ten times.
- Do this exercise daily for 5 minutes.
The Wrinkle Buster
This exercise reduces and prevents lines around your mouth by encouraging collagen production. It also lifts and firms your cheeks, jaw, and lip area.
- Hide your teeth with your lips.
- Keep the lips stretched over your teeth, creating an O shape with your mouth.
- Smile widely while keeping the O shape.
- Hold the pose for a few seconds, then relax.
- Repeat this six times.
- Do this exercise daily for 5 minutes.
The Eye Lift
This exercise strengthens the muscles around your eyes, lifting your eyebrows and eyelids. It also reduces the appearance of droopy eyelids, crow’s feet, and under-eye wrinkles.
- Place your index fingers under your eyebrows.
- Lift your eyebrows up with your fingers while closing your eyes tightly.
- Hold the pose for a few seconds, then relax.
- Repeat this five times.
- Do this exercise daily for 5 minutes.
What Are the Benefits of Face Yoga?
Facial exercises have several benefits for your skin and muscles, such as:
- Strengthening the muscles in your face can help prevent sagging and drooping, as well as improve your facial expressions and speech.
- Increasing blood circulation to your face can help deliver more oxygen and nutrients to your skin cells, as well as remove toxins and waste products. This can result in a brighter, smoother, and healthier complexion.
- Stimulating collagen production. Collagen is a protein that gives skin structure, elasticity, and firmness. Your collagen levels decrease as you age, leading to wrinkles and fine lines. Face exercises can help boost your collagen synthesis, which can help plump up and smooth out your skin.
- Reducing stress and tension in your face. Stress can cause you to frown, clench your jaw, or furrow your brow, creating wrinkles and making you look older. Face exercises can help you relax your facial muscles and help reverse the effects.

You're barely holding on, and then the dishwasher croaks, an acquaintance emotionally blackmails you to attend their wedding 3 Hrs away, or no one appreciates that you made this pasta by hand, piece by freakin' piece, and you lose it. Right around this time, Memorial Day weekend rolls around, allowing you to push pause and keep you sane. A long weekend, finally! Somewhere between the travel plans, backyard dinners, mentally packing beach bags, and out-of-office replies, there’s a rare opportunity to reset - not just mentally, but physically too.
This is why FOREO, FAQ™ Swiss, and MYSA are offering a coupon code 30MEMORIAL, offering a 30% extra discount, totaling up to 50% off premium skin-tech devices and a large skincare portfolio in a Memorial Day Sale from May 19 to June 2.
The best routines aren’t the ones that take an hour, have 12 steps, and require the sacrifice of a goat under a full Moon while talking to the mushroom king. The best routines are the ones that we'll actually do, and the ones we do are the ones that fit effortlessly into real lives, with their real challenges and joys, while still delivering visible results. Results are a must. You can use a hands-free, wireless red LED mask as you're making coffee, have a 3-minute quick facelift or a full facial in 2 minutes, and there are better things to do on a long weekend than stand in front of a bathroom mirror doing hours of IPL, when you can do a full-body hair removal in 10 minutes.
This Memorial Day, take the time to be, to sleep in and have a lazy morning, to stay out late with friends you haven't seen in a while, to sit on your porch, balcony, or in a park, and to remember who you are when you're well-rested and content.
