For the days you’re literally feeling rough.
Everyone wants skin that’s smooth, soft and glowing, but for many it’s not-so-smooth sailing after puberty hits. From hormonal acne to skin discoloration to sunspots, it’s hard to catch a break from all the unpredictable things your skin can do. So, if you’re looking for the key to smoother skin, read below for 5 simple ways to improve your skin texture.
Contents
1. Slather on the SPF
We’ll say it once, we’ll say it twice, we’ll say it a million times, SPF is one of the most important skincare products when it comes to your skin’s texture and youth. Sunblock even helps prevent wrinkles and reduces the amount of redness and unevenness in skin, keeping skin supple for longer.
2. Exfoliate Exfoliate Exfoliate
Exfoliation is a natural process that helps rejuvenate skin by removing any loose or dead skin cells from the surface, thus revealing healthy skin below. With devices like the LUNA™ 4 by FOREO, exfoliating and cleansing twice a day is efficient and quick so you can say goodbye to dull skin fast!
3. Try a Chemical Peel
Although it may sound scary, chemical peels are a great at-home treatment to further repair rough skin. A chemical peel helps remove sun-damaged skin, stimulates regrowth and evens out the texture and pigment of skin while promoting collagen production. If that doesn’t sound like the recipe for flawless skin, then what does?!
4. Stock up on Vitamin C
With a myriad of vitamin C-infused serums and moisturizers on the market today, there’s no excuse for not taking advantage of this powerful antioxidant in your skincare routine. Vitamin C helps improve the skin’s texture by repairing and defending the skin from environmental damage while reducing pigmentation, scar tissue and age spots. Incorporating vitamin C into your skincare routine now, will help keep your skin young, fresh and soft in the future!
5. Start Using Oils
Besides their soothing scent and consistency, oil-based products are ideal for regulating sebum production in skin – thus making it supple, yet balanced and ultra-smooth. If you’re in need of balance or extra moisture, try incorporating face oils into your nightly skincare regimen and watch as you wake up with baby-soft skin.

Great post, thank you for these suggestions! I have tried all of these except for the chemical peel. I have heard so many mixed reviews on them, and am unsure what to think! You do make some great points that it helps rebuild skin and restore glow – are there any brands you would recommend for a first-timer?
Thanks for the great suggestions! :)
Dear Jenna, Thank you for your kind words and glad to hear that you enjoy our blogs! Yes indeed the facial peel can be a little daunting and if its your first time we always would recommend a well trained skin technician to perform such treatments. Happy Glowing!
Iam 54 yrs…my acne affected skin now looks very rough and uneven . tried chemical peel but no result…any nonclinical (homely)remedy for this problem.kindly reply.

You suggest including oils in skin care regimen. Do you mean essential oils, or do you have another suggestion?
Hi Sher, As great as essential oils are with their natural benefits, we would recommend to use them with caution or seek professional help when choosing them for your skin as undiluted essential oils may be too harsh when applied directly to your skin. Hope this helps and good luck with finding the right oil!

1. What you mean by using oils i mean what type of oils coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil etc.. which type of oil need to use
2. I have oily skin how i use oils on face it produce more oil and become more oily skin
#nohate
Hi there! Please note that, as counterintuitive as it sounds, using oils on your oily skin can actually be beneficial. If oily skin is stripped of natural oils, it will overproduce and build up more sebum. But, of course, not all oils should be used on oily skin. You can use Jojoba, tea tree, squalane and marula oils as well as the other low-comedogenic oils such as Argan, Buckthorn and rosehip. Please avoid coconut oil, sesame oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, wheat germ oil and others. Hope this helps! Best regards :)
