Pink isn’t just a color, it’s an attitude! Especially during October when the whole world is adopting this gentle, but strong color as a way of giving support to the campaigns for awareness about early diagnosis of breast cancer. FOREO is also colored in pink this October. Namely, to raise awareness about the importance of regular examinations, check-ups, and of breast cancer in general, FOREO partnered with Living Beyond Breast Cancer organization. So, FOREO will donate 5 percent of every sold pink device this month. Together, we can support the cause!
One in eight women will develop breast cancer
About one in eight women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime, making this type of cancer the most common in the world. Breast cancer mainly occurs in middle-aged and older women. Half of the women who developed breast cancer are 62 years of age or younger when they are diagnosed. Still, unfortunately, that doesn’t mean younger women can’t get breast cancer. It is possible for anyone to get breast cancer, even men. There are several risk factors for developing breast cancer, including:
- Family history of breast cancer
- BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations
- Older age
- Long menstrual history
- Certain hormone therapies
- Dense breasts
Can you lower the risk of breast cancer?
Even though there is no sure way to prevent breast cancer, there are some things you can do to lower your risk, including:
- Limit alcohol consumption
- Don’t smoke
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Exercise regularly
- Reduce exposure to radiation and environmental pollutants
- Breastfeed, if possible
If you think you might be at risk for breast cancer, talk to your doctor. They can help you understand your risk factors and create a plan to lower your risk or catch the disease early if it does develop.
