Over half of Brits admit to being upset on Christmas because of bad gifting – ouch.

FOREO has vowed it will save Christmas this year from ‘rubbish presents’ after a nationwide survey found more than half of Brits (56%) admitted to being upset on Christmas morning when opening a festive faux pas from a significant other!

The study, which asked customers across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, also unveiled that girlfriends are the fussiest when it comes to pleasing, with over 29% of boyfriends admitting to making their partner cry with their choice of gift. Sibling-gifting was second, with almost a quarter of sisters not happy with their presents and mums coming in third with 15% getting upset on Christmas morning.

From over 2000 respondents’ past experiences, festive gifts that had upset the most included:

  • Anti-cellulite cream
  • Stuffed animal that sang ‘happy birthday’
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Condoms
  • Weight loss insoles
  • Moustache Bleaching Cream
  • Diet plan

Surprisingly, almost 5% of Brits also named a ‘dog’ as a present that made them cry, and even 2% named a ‘car’ as the surprise they received that upset them the most.

FOREO CEO, Paul Peros thinks discerning buyers and indeed gift receivers need so much more nowadays, and brands need to sit up and pay attention when it comes to their gift offerings.

“We conducted this survey to gain a real insight into Brits and their present buying abilities over the festive period. Some of the results were pretty surprising and it really ignited a thought in us – to Save Christmas From Rubbish Presents this year!” Says Peros.

“FOREO truly does have innovative and stylish beauty options to suit everyone and so we are issuing all would be buyers a warning to not be ‘that guy’ or ‘that girl’ this year and give rubbish gifts. Make sure a FOREO surprise is under the Christmas tree for that special person,” he adds.

The award-winning LUNA mini 2 has been a firm favorite for the past three years and adored by global celebrities and influencers; it’s definitely a gift you can’t go wrong with and it  can be purchased Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Urban Retreat at Harrods and Space NK.

Whilst the survey showed a pretty extensive list of present faux pas, in actual fact over 30% of Brits do think about gifting deeply, with over a third saying they start their Christmas shopping as soon as December starts and only 7% admitted to running out on Christmas Eve to get it done. 23% are pros and say this is done and dusted ‘months in advance’.
