Chances are, you use more than one product in your skincare routine. But are you using them in the correct order? Probably not.
A full 12-step Korean skincare regimen may not be for everyone, but there is something to be said for following the correct skin care steps to achieve that dewy glow you desire.
If you want to make sure your skin is getting the full benefit of each product, it’s important to consider which products work well together, and which don’t (i.e. putting a moisturizer over a sunscreen may water it down and dilute the SPF). Plus, good skincare ain’t cheap, so you want to get all you can out of every purchase.
So, how do you become a master of beauty layering? Here’s our definitive guide:
This is the first, and most important step in any skincare regimen. Use a cleanser suited to your skin type, and the LUNA 2 to remove dirt, oil and makeup residue.
As a general rule of thumb, you want to apply products in order from thinnest to thickest consistency. Toner has the consistency of water, so it comes first. Different toners provide different skin benefits, so choose one that’s right for you, but find a formula that’s alcohol-free, so it won’t dry out your skin.
If you need to treat a few pesky blemishes, this is the ideal place in your skincare routine. Creams or gels are best applied at night, but the ESPADA blue light acne treatment can be used any time.
Serums are basically super-concentrated skin multivitamins – one a day keeps dull skin at bay! To get all those nutrients into your skin, apply your serum before any moisturizers that may act as a barrier and prevent absorption.
Many serums contain active ingredients, so simply swiping it on may not release its true potential. The low-frequency pulsations of LUNA 2’s anti-aging side help to massage the product into your skin for maximum efficacy. Give it about 5 minutes to soak in before going on to Step 5.
When it comes to aging, the eyes are the first to give you away, so taking care of the delicate skin around the eye contour is super important. Apply your eye cream before any moisturizer and use the IRIS to help massage it in.
Even if you have oily skin, it’s important to re-hydrate after cleansing. So grab your favorite moisturizer, and apply generously.
By now, you know the importance of proper sun protection. Once all the other goodies have soaked in, slather on your sunscreen – and don’t forget your neck!
